GENERAL INFORMATION
 
The International Conference on Person-Centred Counselling and Psychotherapy is organized by the Institute of Counselling and Psychological Studies (ICPS). It is dedicated to the memory of Ioulios Iossifides, Professor Emeritus of Athens University, Pathologist, Counselor and Psychotherapist, who did not only envisioned it but, more importantly, inspired and challenged throughout his lifetime many students and colleagues to keep learning, exploring, sharing.
The Conference aims at reflecting pertinent concerns about the evolution of Person Centred Approach and its applications. The Conference will focus on several topics, the most prevailing of which are indicatively listed below:
 
Ø      The Philosophy of the Person-Centred Approach
Ø      Theoretical Developments
Ø      Application
Ø      Research
Ø      Teaching, Facilitation, Supervision
Ø      Dialogue and Interaction with other Humanistic Approaches
 
 
 
 
 
Main contributors, at the present, are among others: Arthur Bohart, Jerold Bozarth, Ned Gaylin, Elke Lambers, Dave Mearns, Peter Schmid, Paul Wilkins, Sofia Balamoutsou, Alexandros Kosmopoulos, Andreas Brouzos.
The Conference Organizing Committee invites proposals representing all areas of Person Centred Approach as they relate to psychotherapy and counselling, including empirical research, theory and practice. Papers concerning other topics on the interface of Person Centred Psychology will also be considered.
 
Conference Venue
The Conference will be held in Athens, at the the National Bank of Greece Training and Conference Centre (41-43 Poseidonos Ave., Glifada) from the 24th till the 28th of June 2009.
 
Conference official language:
Greek and English.
Note: Simultaneous Translating facilities will be included throughout presentations of all guest speakers

Registration fee includes:
Attendance at the conference sessions/workshops, conference materials, coffee/tea breaks, lunches and cocktail buffet on the 24th of June.
 
Confirmation of Registration:
Your registration for the conference will be acknowledged by e-mail   within 15 days of submission. If you do not receive confirmation within this time,please contact us to confirm that your application has been received.
On completion of the registration form, payment for the conference must be made by bank transfer to the conference account below. Receipts will be issued within thirty days after the conference.

Guidelines For Abstract Preparation
and Submission:
 
The Conference Organizing Committee invites proposals representing all areas of Person Centred Approach as they relate to psychotherapy and counselling, including empirical research, theory and practice. Papers concerning other topics on the interface of Person Centred Psychology will also be considered.
 
Ø      Total length of the abstract should not exceed 250 words
Ø      The abstracts should be Word processed, in one paragraph, in single space and the letter font should be Times New Roman size 12.
Ø      The abstract should have the following:
 
Title: The title of the paper should be in lower case with the first letter being upper case. No other words should have capital letters unless they are proper nouns. Please make sure the same title is used on the submission form as on the abstract.
Authors: The authors' names should be in upper case, with presenting author listed first. Each should appear in the form: Last name, (comma) initial. (full stop) (if more than one initial, run together) and should be followed immediately by the institution or other affiliation (in lower case with the first letter being upper case). Please restrict affiliations to one only. There should be a comma before the ampersand for multiauthor papers or after the institution for authors from different affiliations. The name of the author who will make the presentation should be underlined.
Email address: Give the full email address of the principal presenting author in the usual form, using conventional lettering. There should be no full stop at the end of the email address. Only give one email address
Abstract.

The abstracts should be submitted before the 15th January 2009 at the following e-mail address: pcaconf2009@icps.edu.gr
All submitted abstracts will be reviewed by the scientific committee and the acceptance of the abstract will be forwarded to the address provided by the author(s). Please include contact number and e-mail address.
 
ICPS
Short introduction to ICPS:
In 1989 Polly Iossifides (Psychotherapist and Counselor), Dr. Ioulios Iossifides (Professor Emeritus of Athens University, Counselor) and Dr. Charles Devonshire (Clinical Psychologist and associate of Carl Rogers) founded a training institute for person-centred Counselling in Athens, Greece. The Institute offered   a post-graduate experiential course in person-centred Counselling as well as courses specializing in communication skills and personal development.
Today, the Institute in keeping with its founding vision offers international university education of high standing in counselling and psychological studies, as well as research in Counselling (pending approval from the University of Strathclyde) and Psychology.
Over the years the ICPS has developed its training, academic, and research courses in cooperation with professional bodies and with universities in the UK. It is a member of the British Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP), the European Association of Counselling (EAC), the European Network of Person Centred Associations for Counselling and Psychotherapy (NEPCACP), the Greek Association for Counselling, and the Greek Association of Psychotherapy.
